Chairman's Message

The Friends of Doxford Park are now in their 8th year, during this time we have achieved many things, some small and some not so small, like the improvements to the walled garden.

I would personally like to thank Colin & Ann Barksby, Elaine Nicholson and my wife Sheila for their support over the last seven years, we have all had fun and have enjoyed the events etc. that we have taken place.
All of the work done has been carried out by us being partners with other groups and organisation’s, this has worked out very well and has benefited everyone concerned.

Over the years the group, like any other volunteer group, has found it is hard work to bring about change and improvements to the park. Money is always in short supply and also finding people who wish to help in our events is difficult.

We are indebted to our local Ward Councillor’s who over the years have supported us both physically and financially (Community Chest Fund), especially Elizabeth (Betty) Gibson.

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month, except August. Meeting normally last about 1½ hours and are very relaxed and refreshments are provided. There is no charge or subscriptions payable, so if you would like to join us then come along. There is no obligation to attend every meeting , however if you would prefer to just help with our events, then we need people to act as stewards and helpers especially at our ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ held in June.

If you wish any further information please visit our Contacts Page were you will find our contact details.
Events for 2009 will be listed on this site as soon as posssible.
