FODP work alongside local schools to facilitate various events throughout the year.
This year we held a nature trail orienteering event for local schools.

Students search the park to find clues and discover the identity of different birds and animals that may live in the park.
This gives the school children a great chance to exercise as they have fun learning about their local environment.
Fruit and Veg Challenge
Children are invited to join us in the walled garden where they search for fruit and veg.
They must identify what it is they have found, whether it is a fruit or a vegetable
and what they might make with it.
We are always impressed by the children's knowledge.

This year we had physalis that puzzled most people including the teachers and ourselves!

We were particularly amazed by a young Year 2 student who told her teacher (correctly)
"That's an avocado and it's the main ingredient in guacamole !!"
Orienteering History Trail
In this event clues the children search for clues that are placed around the park.
Each clue has a small paragraph about the history of the park or local area.
They then answer a question about this on their worksheets.
This is a great way to learn while exercising!
